Regulations
All participants are individually responsible for starting the race in a well-trained, physically healthy condition. The regulations of WTC and those set out herewith must be strictly observed. Traffic laws must be adhered to and instructions from referees, judges and race officials must be complied with.

Transition area / Handover zone
The transition area is the location where the bikes are placed (mainland). The handover zone (island) is the place where the timing chip will be given to the teammate. These zones may only be entered by race participants and officials with the appropriate pass! Trainers, coaches and spectators have no access to these areas. Within the transition area, bikes are to be pushed only (not ridden) and are to be parked in the appropriately numbered stands. Do not lay bikes on the ground!

Racing equipment/Bib numbers
Each participant is responsible for his/her own racing equipment. Only unaltered, homologated helmets (also time trial helmets) may be worn. Racing with an unclothed upper body is strictly forbidden on both the run and bike courses.

Each team receives two bib numbers and one athlete identification wristband for the swimmer. On one of them the fnishershirt sizes of all the team members are printed. It is important that the runner wears this number. The bib number may not be folded and must be worn in a clearly visible manner on the front of the body for the running course and on the back of the body for the bike course. It is not allowed to wear the bib number during swimming.

Swim
For Neoprene wetsuits to be permitted the water temperature may not exceed 24.5 C. According to the regulations of the Swiss Triathlon, the temperature is measured half a metre below the surface and will be constantly announced on Saturday. The current water temperature of  Lake Zurich as well as the most important weather information (outside temperature, air pressure, wind strength, wind direction) are available online under weather online.

Bike course, Helmet, Drafting
The biking is an individual time trial without any personal attendance. Drafting behind or next to a participant is prohibited. The minimal distance between the front wheel of the front driver and the front wheel of the rear driver is 10 meters. On the side, the distance is 2 meters. Overtaking must be completed after 30 seconds. Overtaken athletes are responsible to re-establish the distance. The referees may warn the fallible athletes (yellow card and a short time penalty “stop-and-go”, in case a stoppage is possible), or disqualify with immediate effect (red card).

On the bike course, drinking bottles, paper or any kind of trash may only be discarded within a maximum distance of 50 metres before or after the food station.

A homologated, hard-shelled helmet must be worn. The helmet obligation (straps closed!) starts before the bike is being taken from the rack and ends after the bike is being put back.

It is not possible to fully close roads in Switzerland and therefore athletes should always be prepared to meet traffic. Traffic laws must be strictly observed (e.g. any participant found crossing double white lines will be disqualified). Dangerous downhill stretches are marked with yellow flags, indicating that the speed must be adjusted immediately!

Carrying headphones on the bike course is not allowed and causes immediate disqualification (traffic law!). Same procedure for crossing the security line in the middle of the street.

Run
For reasons of safety and fairness, the running circuits are areas exclusive for participants. Any form of accompanyment or escort is strictly forbidden. As on the bike, headphones are prohibited on the run course too.
